(MITCHELL) – Two people were injured in an accident on Juliet Lane near Yockey Road on Tuesday at 10:36 p.m.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 20-year-old Alexis VanMeter, of Bedford, was traveling south on Juliet Lane when she began to cough several times. VanMeter told police she had been ill for several days.

While coughing, her 2017 Honda Accord went off the south side of the road and collided with a tree.

VanMeter did submit to a portable breath test that showed she had not been drinking prior to the accident.

VanMeter complained of pain to her right knee, chest and stated she was experiencing ringing in her ears.

Her passenger, 31-year-old Abby Woerdman, of Bloomfield, complained of neck pain and upper back pain following the incident.
