Bedford Man Severely Injured in Motorcycle Crash

(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was seriously injured after crashing his 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle on Bartlettsville Road, near Dunn Bridge Road, on Monday night.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to the accident at 7:31 p.m.

When officers arrived they found 24-year-old James Norman laying in the ditch on the west side of Bartlettsville Road.

Norman was complaining of back pain.

He could not tell officers what happened to cause the accident.

Police say Norman was traveling west on Bartlettsville Road when his 2002 Kawasaki ZR-1200 left the west side of the road. The motorcycle hit two fence posts and approximately 20 feet of fence.

Norman was not wearing a helmet during the incident.

Norman who suffered fractured vertebra in his lower back, multiple broken ribs and a hernia from the crash was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department, an AMR Ambulance crew and an IU Health Ambulance crew.
