Two Scottsburg Residents Die in Fatal Accident

(JENNINGS CO.) – Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday on State Road 3 in Jennings County.

The accident happened near County Road 650 South.

According to Trooper Andrew Garrett with an Indiana State Police-Versailles crash reconstruction team, 20-year-old David Seropian, of Scottsburg, was traveling south on State Road 3 in a 2005 Toyota Scion when the car left the east side of the road and struck a tree and overturned.

Seropian was ejected from the vehicle and was fatally wounded.

His passenger 21-year-old Shaylla Jones, also of Scottsburg, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Trooper Garrett believes Seropian may have swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. He also believes speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, Lovett Township Fire Department, Jennings County EMS, and Clark’s Towing.
