Orleans Chamber of Commerce 12th Annual Fall Fun Fest in Park

(ORLEANS) – The Orleans Chamber of Commerce will officially usher in the Autumn Season on Saturday, October 12th with its 12th Annual Fall Fun Fest in the Park in historic downtown Orleans.

Chamber Executive Director Robert Henderson said the local Chamber will again play host to a variety of fun fall family type activities and special events on that Saturday and is busy this week putting on the finishing details for this year’s festivities.

“We hope everyone will come out that Saturday and join us on the Square for this special community event,”  Henderson says.

Henderson also noted that 2019 marks the Orleans Chamber’s 75th Anniversary.

Planned events include the Orange Co. Homegrown 5K Run/Walk which will feature a new route this year. Registration for the run starts at 9 a.m. at Orleans High School. Runners and walkers will begin the course at 10 a.m.

Bounce houses will be set up in Congress Square for the kids. Kirk Vet Service will be sponsoring Game Day in the Park with a variety of fun activities and prizes.

Last year’s popular Fall Fun Fest Apple Pie Bake Off is returning and locals are being encouraged to fire up their ovens and enter their favorite Apple Pie Recipe. Participants are asked to simply bring their completed Apple Pie entry form (Found Inside the Progress Examiner, along with your pie to the Orleans Town Hall (Community Room) by no later than 9:15 a.m. that Saturday morning.

*Rules: All pies are to be 9-inch disposable pan, handmade crust, natural (Not store canned ingredients) Judges will be looking for best appearance, flavor, and texture.

The Great 12th Annual Orleans Chamber Chili Cook-off is also back this year which will also be staged at the town hall.

(Bring your best chili recipe, 1 quart of hot soup in a crockpot) Entries accepted from 9 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Judging will begin at 9:30 a.m.

As in years past there will be plenty of delicious food served up by a number of organizations that day throughout the park area including Orleans Municipal Fire & Rural District Bar-B-Q, Orange Co Cattlemen’s Assoc. will be serving up their Steak Sandwiches, drinks & more.

The Orleans Kiwanis Club famous creek bank potatoes are returning as is the OHS Jr. Parents who will be grilling up hamburgers, hotdogs and homemade goodies to raise monies for the After Prom. Orleans Tri Kappa will have its Harvest Corner set up on the N.E. corner of the square and will be offering an array of homemade baked items, fall treats, and activities for the kids.

Residents are also being urged to decorate up their Golf Cart and join in the fun of the 2nd Annual Phi Beta Psi Golf Cart Parade

Registration/sign In begins @ Super Clean Car Wash starting at 10:30 a.m.  The parade will begin at 11 a.m.

Car enthusiasts get those vehicles ready for the Classic Car Show.  Registration starts at 1 p.m. Admission is $15. This year there will be a Best Dressed Contest with individuals encouraged to dress up in their 50s attire.  There will be 45 trophies awarded for multiple categories.  For more information on the car show please contact Mike Harkness, 812-653-1648.
