Employers Can Learn How to Build Talent Pool at the New Indiana Workforce Summit Oct. 24-25

(SEPTEMBER) – Eighty percent of Indiana’s businesses say finding qualified employees is among their biggest challenges, according to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 employer workforce survey.

Potential solutions are the focus at the inaugural Indiana Workforce Summit, taking place October 24-25 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. Top topics on tap include workforce hiring, training and retention.

“We’ve heard from business leaders across Indiana that workforce is the No. 1 issue impacting their organizations,” says Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. “The Indiana Chamber already provides a wide range of opportunities to assist companies through the Institute for Workforce Excellence®, and we will continue to build upon these offerings to better support employers in strengthening their talent pipelines. This new two-day event is another tool to help Hoosier companies overcome obstacles due to ever-changing workforce challenges.”

Speakers will share insights and information about building a talent pipeline of workers, creating employer-led collaborations to address specific workforce needs, using data to make decisions about training and hiring, and developing training programs that allow people to learn new skills while gaining experience on the job.

The summit will also include the first look of the results of the Indiana Chamber’s 2019 employer workforce survey; this marks the organization’s 12th annual snapshot.

Cost for the full summit is $599 for Indiana Chamber members, $699 for non-members and $299 for government or non-profit attendees. Register online at www.indianachamber.com/INWork or by calling (800) 824-6885.

Additionally, the Indiana Chamber and Indiana Department of Workforce Development have partnered to provide fully-funded registrations for minority-owned or women-owned businesses so they can attend.
