Martha Jane (Raines) Bolton, 87, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital Bedford surrounded by her family and friends while singing gospel songs.
Born October 11, 1931, in Lawrence County, Indiana she was the daughter of Henry and Reba (Baker) Raines. She married Herman Bolton on April 26, 1952 and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1984. She was a Fayetteville High School graduate, class of 1949 and attended New Union Church where her and Herman were baptized by Rev. Frank Johnson. Martha worked at the Hospitality House for 19 years.
Survivors include her children, Dallas (Cheryl) Bolton of Williams, Kathy (Steve) Taylor of Williams; four grandchildren, Christy Slaughter, Stephen (Angela) Taylor, Heather (Ronald) Dela-Cruz, Audra Bolton; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Slaughter, Spencer Taylor, Wyatt Taylor, Marko Dela-Cruz; siblings, Charlie, Wendell and Harold Raines, Betty McGill, Geraldine Dunn, Sue Morris, Lea Craig, Lorene New.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Douglas Ray Bolton; two brothers, Donald and Bill Raines; one sister, Margaret Raines.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with John Wisley officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Burial will follow at House of Prayer Cemetery.
