Bloomington Man Arrested After Call of Suspicious Male

(BLOOMINGTON) – A Bloomington man was arrested Monday afternoon after a report of a suspicious male at Sunny Slopes Drive.

Police arrived on the scene to find 35-year-old Brandon Barnett walking up on porches and messing with packages. Barnett was being uncooperative with officers.

When police asked Barnett for his identification, they noticed he smelled of alcohol. Barnett reached in his back pocket and a small pill fell to the ground. Barnett grabbed the pill and swallowed it.

While holding his wallet, a bag of a white-powder substance fell out. Barnett grabbed it and swallowed it too.

Barnett was arrested and placed in handcuffs. During a search of his pockets police found a pill bottle of anti-anxiety medication that was not his prescription.

He was arrested on charges of charges of possession of a legend drug and obstruction of justice and a warrant out of Vanderburgh County.

Barnett was taken to a local hospital after his arrest to be medically cleared before being transported to the Monroe County Correction Center.
