Buddy Walk® to Raise Awareness, Funds for Programs to benefit Individuals with Down syndrome and their Families

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The 22nd Annual Buddy Walk® in Indianapolis will take place at Celebration Plaza in White River State Park on Saturday, October 5th.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:30 a.m.

The National Buddy Walk® Program welcomes participants of all ages and abilities.

The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.

The Buddy Walk® has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2018 worldwide.

Last year more than $14 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down
syndrome.

The Buddy Walk® in Indianapolis will feature many family-friendly festivities in the park. Participants will enjoy entertainment, team awards, an information tent, food truck options, and enough inspiration to last the
entire year,
