(PLAINFIELD)- Duke Energy has begun to release its site readiness recommendations for locations selected for the 2019 Site Readiness program.
Two of the sites include:
- The Northpoint Business Park in Westfield (Hamilton County) which is located at 202nd Street and U.S. Hitghway 31
- The North Manchester Industrial Complex (Wabash County) at County Road 1100 North and Taynor Drive in North Manchester
“We’re pleased to make available these recommendations for site improvement and development for these two communities,” said Erin Schneider, Indiana director of economic development for Duke Energy. “Officials in each location are eager to use these recommendations to boost their existing economic development efforts.”
Duke Energy retained nationally recognized site selection firm Strategic Development Group, Inc., to conduct site evaluations and provide recommendations to increase economic development success.
“The SDG team was delighted to provide professional assistance to Duke Energy Indiana’s Site Readiness program and look forward to enhanced site location results in Hamilton and Wabash counties,” said Mark Williams, president of SDG.
Banning Engineering of Plainfield has also produced conceptual drawings and site plans for the Wabash location.
“The city of Westfield and Northpoint are excited to continue our partnership with Duke Energy to market our premier industrial sites,” said Amanda Rubadue, Westfield’s economic development director. “The Site Readiness program provides us with expertise and best practices to promote our city and Northpoint as a great place to do business and grow a business. We look forward to the opportunities and feedback the program provides.”
“We were excited to be selected as a participant in the 2019 Duke Site Readiness program,” said Keith Gillenwater, president & CEO of Grow Wabash County. “The work and feedback that the Duke Energy partners have provided to the town of North Manchester and our team at Grow Wabash County have been invaluable as we work to best position our industrial park for future investment.”
The detailed reports come with a $10,000 check for each economic development group to help them put the recommendations into practice.
Ideal properties for Duke Energy’s Site Readiness program are typically 40 acres or larger, serviced by the utility, or a vacant industrial building of at least 20,000 square feet identified to support renewed industrial growth and sustainable development in the community.
Duke Energy’s overall economic development program has been consistently named by Site Selection magazine as one of the nation’s “Top 10 Utility Economic Development Programs.” Across its seven-state service territories, the company has participated in the creation of nearly 20,000 jobs with a total capital investment of approximately $4.5 billion.
