Sanitation Division Announces Normal Schedule for Week of Labor Day, Offers Seasonal Reminders

(BLOOMINGTON) – Residential trash, recycling, and yard waste collection in the City of Bloomington will take place on the normal schedule during the week of September 2.  Sanitation customers should place waste and recycling carts on the curb by 5 a.m. on their regular pickup day, which may be determined by entering their address at myBloomington.

The Sanitation Division reminds customers that plastic, glass, and metal recyclables should be washed before being placed into the recycling bin, and that the cart’s lid must fully close.  Additionally, bins should be placed at least four feet apart from other obstacles, including other carts, and 10 feet away from vehicles.

Customers may request pickup of large items such as furniture and appliances for a $10 fee per item by contacting the Sanitation Division at (812) 349-3443 or completing an online form.  Yard waste is collected every other week, and maybe placed in brown paper bags, 48” by 24” bundles, or 64-gallon wheeled carts, available for purchase through the Sanitation Division.  Yard waste is collected for $1 per unit. Billing for collection of trash, yard waste, and large items is included in the customer’s utilities bill. There is no fee for recycling collection.

Questions about trash, recycling or yard waste services may be addressed to the Sanitation Division at (812) 349-3443, or sanitation@bloomington.in.gov
