Danville Man Injured in Off-Road Vehicle Accident

(DANVILLE) – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident that left a Danville man injured.

The accident occurred at approximately 3 a.m., Sunday near the intersection of Wisper Wood Trail and North County Road 200 East in Danville.

Police say 41-year-old Shane Mowery, of Danville, was operating an ORV on a public roadway.  For an unknown reason, Mowery lost control of the ORV and was thrown off.

Mowery, who suffered a skull fracture, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by ambulance.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated, but alcohol appears to have been involved.

Mowery was not wearing a helmet or proper safety equipment.

Indiana Conservation Officers stress safe operation of off-road vehicles and the use of proper protective equipment such as helmets.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted by Danville Police Department, Brownsburg Police Department, and Hendricks County Medics.
