Greene County Band Member Killed in Accident

(TERRE HAUTE) – An accident at the intersection of Ohio and South 3rd Street in Terre Haute Saturday claimed the life of one and left another injured.

A popular guitarist of the band Addition, 37-year-old John Giles of Linton, died from his injuries.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m.

According to police, Giles, who was driving a motorcycle, ran a red light and struck another vehicle.

Giles and his female passenger, 31-year-old Tiffany Smith of Sullivan, were thrown from the bike.

Giles was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Smith was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Giles’ bandmates will pay tribute to him at Linton’s National Night Out on August 6, 2019.

Park officials said the concert proceeds will go to the family to help with funeral costs.
