Obituary: Edith May Yarberry

January 19, 1941 – July 8, 2019

Edith May Yarberry, 78, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, at IU Health Hospice House, Bloomington.

Born January 19, 1941, in Valeene, Indiana, she was the daughter of Albert and Gertrude Fern (Williams) Walton.

Edith worked for D&M, S&S Cleaner’s, Smitty’s, and Scott Thorne Cleaner for over 50 years. She also worked at the Hub Restaurant as a janitor for more than 15 years.

Survivors include her children, Lisa (Rick) Chastain, Alan Yarberry, Danny Yarberry, and Jeff Yarberry; their father, Jay Yarberry; grandchildren, Amanda (Travis) Butler, Courtney “John” Miller, Brittany “Keith” Mundy, Gabby Yarberry, Kaitlyn Yarberry, Braden Yarberry, Breonda Yarberry, Jaydan Yarberry, Jarek Yarberry, Joshua Thompson, and Destiny Stannard; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Dortohy Spires, Cathy (Frank) Canada, Alberta (Bill) Bader, Clarence Walton, Charlie Walton, and John Walton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred Walton; and special nephew, Johnny Canada.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Pastor Mike Hawkins and Clarence Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
