Update: Five-Year Old and Seven-Year Old Among Those Who Died In Daviess County Traffic Accident

(ODON) – Four people died in a traffic accident in Daviess County Thursday evening.

According to Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, at 6:30 p.m. they received a report of a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of Indiana State Road 58 and County Road 425 East in Daviess County.

A south bound vehicle, for an unknown reason, failed to yield the right-of-way to a west bound vehicle at the intersection.

The collision resulted in the death of all occupants of the southbound vehicle which included two adults and two children.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was transported to the Daviess Community Hospital with a head injury.

Police say 26 year- old Matthew Grimes from Evansville, 24 year- old, Jessica Krohn from Evansville, five year- old Maddalyn Grimes, from South Carolina, and seven year old Isabella Pfingston, from Boonville, Indiana were killed in the crash.

According to police Grimes failed to yield the right-of-way and pulled in the path of a pickup truck driven by 41 year-old Rodney Page from Plainville, Indiana.

Police do not believe alcohol to be a factor but toxicology reports are pending.

The traffic accident remains under investigation. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Odon Town Marshal, Elonra Fire Department, Daviess County Coroner’s Officer and Southwest Ambulance.
