More Details Released in IU Student’s Class Action Lawsuit in Mold Case

(BLOOMINGTON) – Court documents in the class action lawsuit over mold in some Indiana University dorms claim that university officials misled students about possible health complications.

Some students are accusing university officials of negligence, fraud, and deception for how they handled the situation. They also claim officials downplayed the severity of health risks by having university doctors claim the students were suffering from allergies.

Lawyers for the students claim officials knew about mold conditions in the dorms for several years but failed to address the mold issue or tell students of the mold.

During the 2018-2019 school years, officials closed McNutt and Foster dorms after mold was discovered. The dorms are being renovated and will not reopen until the fall of 2020.
