Bedford Couple Arrested on Drug Charges

(BEDFORD) – Bedford Police officers arrested a Bedford couple after being called to the parking lot in the area of Kay Jewelers on Friday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a woman in a beige car acting erratically with a small child in the back seat. When they arrived, they located 27-year-old Cecily Cooper in the vehicle with a small male child in the back seat.

Cecily Cooper told police she was the owner of the vehicle. Because of her unusual behavior, officers asked to search the car.

During that search, officers found marijuana, syringes, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Cecily told police her husband, 32-year-old Michael Cooper, was inside a store shopping with their other son, so officers located him. While speaking with Michael he agreed to a search and officers located what later field tested positive for meth in his pocket.

Both individuals were arrested on charges of child neglect, possession of meth, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The children were released to the custody of their grandmother.
