(GREENE CO.) – Greene County was hit by a tornado Saturday in Center Township in Eastern Greene County.
“Although we are working on preliminary damage assessment, we have sketchy information at this time,” says Roger Axe, Greene County Emergency Management Director.
Officials say three homes were destroyed and around 900 residents are currently without power.
According to the Center Township Fire Department, there have been 70 homes damaged.
“We have several mobile homes with severe damage,” Axe added. “We are asking motorists to stay away from the damaged area, you will only hamper emergency response personnel.”
The National Weather Service reports there was a tornado that hit near Crowe Road off Indiana 54 past near the Ridgeport Community and traveled east to Lawrence Hollow Estates.
National Weather Service reports it was an F-2 tornado with winds between 120 to 130 mph.
