Limestone Heritage Festival Parade Entries Needed

(BEDFORD) – The Limestone Heritage Festival takes place Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th. The Bedford Revitalization, Inc. (BRI) Parade Committee is in need of businesses and organizations to join in on this year’s Limestone Heritage Festival Parade.

Parade Chairperson Sarah Turpen says, “We always strive to have around 100 parade entries for each parade. Right now we’re only halfway there, so we are counting on local businesses, organizations and individuals to put in a free parade entry to continue this tradition for our community.”

It’s free to enter, and parade entries can be completed online at www.DowntownBedford.org or a paper application can be completed at Bedford City Hall or at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce.

The deadline to enter is Wednesday, June 19th, 2019, however late entries will still be accepted.

“We do ask to have parade entry applications in by the deadline of Wednesday, June 19th, as we begin working on our parade line up and the Bedford Lion’s Club also creates a street map of where each entry will need to be placed.  We will work late entries into the lineup, even up until parade day itself, so it’s never really ‘too late’ to sign up.  But it makes it easier on our parade committee to have that information by the deadline so we can appropriately space out the different types of entries,” Turpen said.

Late parade entries will still be able to register online at www.DowntownBedford.org.

This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful” and the Grand Marshal is Mark Scherschel. A flag raising and Grand Marshal ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at the corner of 16th and I Street at 5:30 p.m.

This year, Mikels Signs and Johnny’s Signs will provide cranes to hoist the flag at the intersection. The flag will be displayed through the duration of the parade. The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will travel the regular parade route through downtown Bedford.
