Bedford Child Struck By Vehicle

(BEDFORD) – Seven-year-old Kiersten Ray suffered bumps and bruises, lacerations and a broken leg after she rode her bicycle into the path of a vehicle Monday night at the intersection of Second and P streets.

According to a Bedford Police report, 43-year-old Michael Stacy of Austin, In., was traveling west on Second Street in a 1998 General Motors pickup truck when the accident happened at 7:10 p.m.

Stacy told police the girl came out from behind a car into the intersection and collided with the front passenger side of his vehicle.

Ray suffered a laceration to her forehead, several cuts and bruises and a fractured left leg. She was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital and then flown to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. She is due to have surgery on her leg this week.
