Public hearing for proposed new State Road 46/11 interchange scheduled for Wednesday in Columbus

(COLUMBUS) – The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing for the proposed new State Road 46/11 interchange in Columbus on Wednesday, May 29, at Columbus City Hall (Cal Brand Meeting Hall, 123 Washington Street, Columbus, IN 46075).

The hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the environmental document and other related materials for the proposed new interchange.
The proposed project includes the construction of a partial cloverleaf interchange and will remove the at-grade intersection at State Road 46 and State Road 11 by elevating State Road 46 over State Road 11 and the Louisville and Indiana Railroad. The selected design will reduce anticipated traffic delays on State Road 46 due to increased train activity at the railroad crossing and will help alleviate congestion and improve mobility at the intersection.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.to allow the public to view displays and talk with INDOT personnel prior to the hearing. The presentation of the project will begin at 6 p.m.
Verbal statements will be heard during a public comment session immediately following the presentation. Written comments may be submitted prior to the public hearing and within the comment period (Wednesday, June 12) to INDOT Public Hearings, IGCN Room N642, 100 N. Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46204, or via email to mwright@indot.in.gov.
The environmental document and preliminary designs are available to view prior to the public hearing at the following locations:
Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 5th Street, Columbus, IN 47201
