Teen Injured After Truck Flips On US 50 East

(BEDFORD) – A Bedford teen was injured in an accident early Saturday morning.

Lawrence County Sheriff Department deputies responded to the crash at 1:20 a.m. on US 50 East at Glenview Estates.
When deputies arrived, they found a white Chevrolet pick-up driven by 18-year-old Stephen Arnold off the north side of the road.
The vehicle came to a stop inverted against a Duke Energy pole.
Firefighters from Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department had to free Arnold from the wreckage.
Arnold was complaining of severe hip and pelvic pain.
According to the accident report, while speaking to emergency crews, Arnold admitted he had fallen asleep while driving.
Police say that it appears Arnold drove off the north side of the roadway, collided with a culvert causing the truck to go airborne and then collided with the utility pole.
Arnold was transported by ambulance to the Shawswick Elementary School parking lot where he was transported by Statflight helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
