Man Arrested After Firing Shots Into Air Near South Winslow Court

(BLOOMINGTON) – An Indianapolis man was arrested after Bloomington Police say he fired shots into the air to wake up a friend early Saturday morning.


Bloomington Police Department received several calls of reported shots fired in the area of South Winslow Court around 3:40 a.m. Saturday morning.
In search of the area, officers found 20-year-old Robert Samuels of Indianapolis, sitting in a vehicle.
Police say Samuels admitted to firing six rounds from a handgun into the air to get the attention of a friend, whom he believed to be asleep. He did not have a current license to carry his pistol.
No one was injured during the incident, and there was no damage to property.
Police confiscated the weapon and arrested Samuels on preliminary charges of having a handgun without a license and criminal recklessness and is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
