Ed Jones Claims Third Indy 500 Practice

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) – Weather played a role in Thursday’s Indy 500 practice as rising temperatures led to slower speeds and difficulty finding grip on the track.

Ed Jones recorded the fastest time at 227.843 mph, more than 0.3 of a second slower that Will Power’s lead lap in Tuesday’s opening practice.
The third crash in three days also occurred with Patricio O’Ward nearly flipping at the Turn 2 barrier. O’Ward was uninjured following the incident.
After Jones, it was Takuma Sato (226.699 mph) and Zach Veach (226.070) who were atop the speed chart.
Friday’s practice session gets underway at 11am EST.
