Seymour Man Arrested After Throwing Metal Rod At Deputy

(SEYMOUR) – A 64-year-old Seymour man was arrested after he threw a metal rod at a Jackson County officer west of Seymour early Wednesday.

Seymour Police arrested Carlin Allman on charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. The incident occured around 3 a.m. near the Persimmon Lakes housing addition in the 1900 block of West State Road 258.
According to police, Jackson County Deputy Zach Elliott was patrolling the area when he saw Allman at the side of the road with a flashlight. He pulled over to check on Allman, who appeared to be intoxicated and unsteady on his feet. Allman said he was looking for crawdads.
The deputy asked Elliott why he had a metal rod, and Allman said he used a metal rod to hit people when he had to. He then allegedly threw the rod at the deputy. He was able to avoid being hit and tased Allman.
Allman was arrested and is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.
