Griffith Wins Over Skillman, Bough Prevails In District 3 Race

(BEDFORD) – The voters have spoken, and in a close race for Republican Bedford City Council District 1 seat Ryan Griffith prevailed over Brian Skillman by just three votes.

Ryan waited in the courthouse basement on results and was congratulated on his win.

Dan Bortner and Angel Hawkins winning At-Large seats. Longtime Councilwoman Adele Bowden-Purlee was defeated receiving 24 percent of the vote.
In the District 3 Republican Race, Brad Bough won over two other candidates Andrea Rope and Howard Scott. The closest vote-getter was Andrea Rope with just 8 votes behind.
In the Bedford City Council District 5 Republican race, Penny May will face off with Democrat Clarice Guy. Guy, in speaking with WBIW, lived in Bedford from 1995-2006 and came back to make Bedford her home.

“I would like to see the parks upgraded, more ADA compliant for small children, and wants to see more sidewalks.” Guy stated. ” I just want families to want to live, work and stay in Bedford.”
Next year, the Bedford City Council will have five new faces and a new Mayor will lead Bedford.
