One Injured in Crash on US 50 East Monday

(BEDFORD) – One person was injured on US 50 East, near Rose Lane Monday night.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 44-year-old Jeanette Bandell, of Bedford, was traveling east on US 50 East when her 2016 Ford Fusion was struck in the rear by a 2004 General Motor pickup driven by 16-year-old Jacob Brown, of Bedford.
Police say Brown was attempting to stop but was unsuccessful and collided into the rear of Bandell’s car.
Bandell’s car then traveled across the westbound lane and into a ditch.
Bandell told police she had slowed to turn into her driveway when her vehicle was struck.
Brown told police he was traveling behind Bandell’s car when she abruptly braked in the roadway and did not signal she was turning. Brown told police he attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision.
A witness on the scene confirmed Brown’s story.
Bandell complained of head pain and was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment and submitted to a blood-alcohol test. Those results are pending.
