With the help of his crew, Major Bridges acted quickly and was able to rescue a juvenile trapped in a storm drain that was filling up with water.
Dispatchers received a 911 call from a cellphone near 22nd and K streets. The female was in distress and took off running toward another male juvenile standing in the wooded area on the back side of Green Hill Cemetery.
According to Chief Terry Moore, officers learned that the three juveniles had entered a storm drain pipe that ran underground and that one male juvenile was still inside the underground pipe which was filling up with water.
“Officers were lead to a manhole cover where two of the three had exited,” Chief Moore said after the incident. “Officers requested extra assistance from other agencies while attempting to get the third male free. Major Bridges with the help Sgt. Lemke, Officer Emmons, and Officer Swanson were able to tie rope together and use an empty jug to float the end of the rope to the male and pull him to the manhole opening without any serious injuries.”
Congratulations on a job well done Major Bridges.
