Bedford Major Brian Cartwright Honored For 500 OWI Arrests

(BEDFORD) – Bedford Police Major Brian Cartwright was recognized this afternoon by the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and Mothers Against Drunk Driver for making 500 operating a vehicle while intoxicated arrests during his 19 years of service for the City of Bedford.

Fellow officers, detectives, family members and friends filled the Circuit Court to honor Major Cartwright.
Circuit Court Judge Andrea McCord introduced Major Cartwright and shared his career.

Major Cartwright began his career with the department in January 2000. He set a goal of making 500 OWI arrests. He serviced 11 years as a patrol officer before advancing to the detective division. At that time he had 497 OWI arrest. He served as a detective for 8 years and then went back to the road as a shift commander. In March he met his goal with his 500 OWI arrest.
Deputy Prosecutor Bob Cline presented Major Cartwright with his award from the Prosecutor’s Office.

Annie Baker, volunteer resource specialist for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers presented Major Cartwright with an award and pins for his dedication of keeping intoxicated drivers off the roadways.
