Russell Dean Smith, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born March 6, 1958, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Russell Morris and Geneva Faye (Chastain) Smith.
Dean’s life was devoted to farming. He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Assembly Church in Bedford, and a 1976 graduate of Mitchell High School.
Survivors include his son, Justin Dean Smith of Mitchell; granddaughter, Madison Grace Smith; mother of his son, Stephanie Denise Meadows of Bedford; life-long friend, Carol Hughes of Mitchell; two nieces, aunts, and several cousins
His parents and sister, Rhea Dawn Pyle, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jim Russell officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
