West Baden Springs Man Injured In Crash

(HURON) – A West Baden Springs man suffered minor injuries when he crashed his pickup on US 50 West at Watson Merry Road., Monday morning.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 30-year-old Nathan Kellams and his 1-year-old son were traveling east-northeast on US 50 West, west of Watson Merry Road.
Police say Kellams came around a curve and it appears his 2012 Ford F-150 pickup ran off the roadway instead of following the curve. The truck ran off the east side of US 50 West and went approximately 271 feet along the ditch. The pickup then came back onto the roadway and uprooted and knocked down a highway sign. The truck went back into the ditch and then where the ditch ended at a private drive the truck came back onto the roadway sideways and rolled several times stopping in the middle of US 50 West facing northwest.
Kellams suffered a laceration to the right side of his face near his eye. His son was not injured because he was correctly strapped in a car seat. Kellams’ wife responded to the scene and transported both to the hospital to be evaluated.
Assisting at the scene were an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew, Huron Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Knowles Wrecker Service.
