(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was arrested on child molesting charges Thursday night.
According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were alerted to the crime on March 18.
Police say 31-year-old Scott Hignite, of 35 Fire Barn Lane, was accused of molesting a 4-year-old female sometime in 2015.
“During the course of the investigation detectives learned of another victim, at the time this male victim would have been 3 years old,” Chief Deputy Shoults added. “Detectives also learned that approximately 20 years ago, there was another allegation of molestation on a female victim. As a result of this information and the following investigation, Detectives sought an arrest warrant for Mr. Hignite and that warrant was issued.”
Hignite was arrested on three counts of child molesting, one count is a Level 1 felony and the other two counts are Level IV felonies. He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.
