Woman Rescued From Jackson County River

(JACKSON CO) – Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers rescued a woman who was lost along the river over the weekend.

Sheriff Rick Meyer says that the woman was found in the 10,000 block of East County Road 100 South.
The woman called 911 Saturday night, telling dispatchers that she had fallen in the river, but was able to get out on her own.
She could not give police her location saying she was lost.
Officers were able to ping the woman’s phone and determine a general location on where to search.
Deputies Mitch Ray and J.L. McElfresh along with Conservation Officer Nate Berry found the woman on top of a log jam in the river.
Officers say she had been lost for at least 2 and a half hours before being found.
