Virginia Claims First National Title In Overtime

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN) – A little over a year ago the Virginia Cavaliers were the first ever No. 1 seed to be eliminated by a No. 16. On Monday night, they became national champions as they defeated Texas Tech in overtime 85-77.

De’Andre Hunter led Virginia with a game-high 27 points while Kyle Guy added 24 and was named the Most Outstanding Player.
“Surreal,” Hunter called the victory. “It’s a goal we started out at the beginning of the season. We knew we were going to bounce back from last year. We achieved our dreams.”
The Cavaliers at one point saw a 10-point lead turn into a 3-point deficit as the Red Raiders came storming back to send the game to overtime.
Brandone Francis led Texas Tech with 17 points off the bench.
