Solsberry Man Injured In Crash On State Road 54 West

(SPRINGVILLE) – A Solsberry man was injured after crashing his car on State Road 54 West near Harry Corya Lane on Sunday.


According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 22-year-old Steven Stewart was traveling east on State Road 54 West, east of Harry Crya Lane when he veered off the north side of the road and colliding with a downed power pole that had been knocked down previously.
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze continued down an embankment overturning and then came to a stop on the driver’s side.
When police arrived they found Stewart being treated by first responders. Stewart, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a cut on his head and was bleeding.
Police say Stewart was able to climb out of the vehicle through the passenger side door.
Stewart told police he was on his way to work and swerved to miss an animal in the roadway. But then said he might have dozed off while driving. He wasn’t sure because he couldn’t remember what happened.
Police say Stewart showed no signs of impairment.
Stewart was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.
