Former Monroe County Treasurer’s Office Employee Court Hearing Postponed

(BLOOMINGTON) – According to U.S. District Court records, the court hearing for former Monroe County Treasurer’s Office Chief Deputy James Huffman has been postponed until May.

Huffman also worked for the Monroe County’s Youth Services Bureau and was a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Huffman was expected to plead guilty in federal court after reaching a plea deal this week on charges of child pornography.
The hearing was postponed so an Indianapolis psychologist who is preparing a pre-sentence report could have more time to complete her evaluation of Huffman.
A grand jury indicted 47-year-old Huffman after the FBI found him in possession of visual depictions of minors under the age of 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
“Protecting minor victims from sexual predators will always remain a top priority of this office,” said U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler at the time of Hoffman’s arrest. “Those who are not able to protect themselves are the victims for which we will advocate the hardest.”
