Pets Rescued, Fire Damages Bloomington Home

(BLOOMINGTON) – Northern Monroe Fire Territory was able to save a family’s pets after being alerted to a house fire in the 5400 block of James Road on Wednesday morning.

A neighbor called 911 after noticing smoke coming from the home.
Northern Monroe Fire Territory Sgt. Jason Allen says firefighters arrived around 11 a.m. to smoke billowing from the eaves of the roof and flames at the back of the house.

Firefighters forced the front door open and found light smoke inside. No one was home. Firefighters rescued the family’s dog and a cat that was taken to a safe location by a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy.
The fire was extinguished quickly.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were City of Bloomington Fire Department, Northern Monroe Fire Territory, IU Ambulance Service, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
