(BEDFORD) – The National Weather Service has recorded more than 24 tornados since 1955 – killing one person, injuring 58, and costing more than $32.4 million in damage, in Lawrence County.
Seventeen tornados have hit Lawrence County, since June 2, 1990.
One hit Springville in November of 2017.
Today, the Indiana State Tornado Drill will begin around 10:15 a.m.. allowing emergency officials, businesses, and schools to test their Severe Weather Action Plans.
Local Fire Departments also have been given weather radios to distribute for free to the disabled, elderly, and families with several children. Contact your local fire department for information.
