Muscatatuck River Spring Cleanup Set For April 27

(MUSCATATUCK RIVER) – The Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society is hosting its 18th annual spring river cleanup.

Also known as the 10th annual Kevin’s Kleanup in memory of Kevin Jayne, the event is set for April 27. Jayne was a former president of the organization.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to canoe a section of the river or walk along its banks while collecting trash and contributing positively to the environment and community, according to a news release.
Everyone is welcome to participate.
Registration is at 8 a.m. at the Vernon Commons, located off of Jackson Street in Vernon in Jennings County. A brief safety instruction, equipment distribution and group location assignments will be conducted before volunteers go to the river sweep locations. Participants interested in canoeing during the cleanup must provide their own canoe.
Volunteers will conclude their day at noon at North Vernon City Park Shelter House 1, where lunch will be provided from food donated by local businesses.
For information about the cleanup or sponsorship, call Vice President Troy Jackson at 812-592-0481 or Secretary Tom Moore at 812-592-0319.
