Loogootee Head Basketball Coach Reinstated

(LOOGOOTEE) – Following an investigation by school officials, Loogootee Head Basketball Coach Kent Chezem was placed on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation that happened during a game on February 8.


The details of the incident have not been made public.

During the investigation by the Loogootee High School principal and athletic director, Chezem missed three games.
The findings of the investigation were then presented to the Superintendent Chip Mehaffey and the school board during an executive session on Feb. 20. Chezem then returned to the sidelines and coached the final game of the regular season on Feb. 21 and the team’s sectional loss on Tuesday.
Officials are refusing to release details of the investigation or their findings stating it is policy to not comment on personnel matters.
Chezem’s contract will expire at the end of the year. It will be evaluated and the board will determine if he will receive a new contract.
