B-Line Trail Section Closes for Two Days to Allow Switchyard Park Progress

(BLOOMINGTON) – The B-Line Trail between Grimes Lane and the west access spur at Switchyard Park’s south end will be closed for safety from 8 a.m. today through 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Construction is continuing in the park this week with the installation of two prefabricated concrete pedestrian bridges near the property’s skate park. Installing the bridge structures requires the use of a crane and other heavy equipment that could pose a risk to passersby. Construction of the 65-acre Switchyard Park is scheduled for substantial completion this November.

A detour that will allow pedestrian and bicycle traffic to bypass the closure utilizes the B-Line Trail access spur, South Bryan Street, and West Ralston Drive through the Broadview neighborhood and the sidewalk along Rogers Street between West Ralston Drive and South Patterson Drive. The alternate route will be marked with B-Line Trail detour signs.
“We regret the inconvenience this closure will cause our trail users, but the safety of the public and the construction crews are our first priority,” said Dave Williams, Operations and Development Director for the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department. “This temporary disruption in B-Line Trail traffic will allow us to make a major step forward in Switchyard Park construction.”
The B-Line Trail will re-open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic at 7 p.m. on February 28.
