Need To Call Department Of Revenue? Try Wednesdays!

(INDIANAPOLIS) – What day is it? It’s hump day! That’s right hump day, or Wednesday, is the best day to call the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) with questions.

According to DOR’s Customer Service Team, Wednesdays are typically the days with the lowest call volume throughout the year, followed by Thursdays.
Can’t call on Wednesdays? DOR suggests calling early! Customers who call between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, also experience low wait times.
“DOR strives to deliver best-in-class customer service to Hoosiers, and that includes providing answers to their questions as quickly and efficiently as possible,” explained DOR Commissioner Adam Krupp. “By sharing the low-volume days and times, we hope our customers can take advantage.”
Customers with questions about individual income tax may contact DOR Customer Service at 317-232-2240, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., EST.
Customers have other ways to contact DOR including:

  • Visiting DOR – visit any of the 12 district office locations throughout the state during the hours of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., local time, for face-to-face interactions.
  • Emailing DOR – send an email. All questions are addressed within four business days. The form to send an email is available at dor.in.gov/3392.htm.
  • Social media – Customers are encouraged to search @INRevenue to find the latest news, updates and helpful customer tips throughout tax season, and all year long on various social media outlets.

If customers don’t find what they are looking for, DOR encourages them to reach out and provide their feedback by using the recently launched portal available online at feedback.dor.in.gov. DOR appreciates any and all feedback customers provide allowing the opportunity for continuous improvement.
