Washington Man Arrested On Charges Of Illegal Gambling

(WASHINGTON) – A Washington bar owner has been arrested on charges of conduction illegal gambling and bookmaking at his business.


After a more than four-year-long investigation, officers from the Indiana Gaming Commission, Indiana Excise Police and State Police conducted a raid Wednesday at the Tuxedo Bar at 298 Southeast Fourth Street in Washington.

Authorities arrested 59-year-old Roger Padgett of Washington on a warrant charging him with four counts of professional gambling.
Padgett has posted a $5,000 bond and is now free.
In a 16-page report, police outline the details of the investigation, which began in March 2014 that includes specific bets and wagers, surveillance, trash pulls and undercover officers.
