Search Of Possible Drowning Victim To Be Scaled Back

(EDINBURGH) – Multiple agencies again converged on the Big Blue River in Edinburgh in an attempt to find the possible drowning victim from Thursday night.

The river level dropped Saturday, allowing crews to enter the water in some areas to complete a more thorough search. However, they were still unsuccessful in locating the possible victim. Even though the water level has dropped a few feet, it still remains swift in many areas, making a complete search impossible.
At this point, emergency personnel will scale back the search effort. They will continue to monitor and search the river as water and weather conditions allow.
There still has not been a missing person report filed in conjunction with this search.
Indiana Conservation Officers are very grateful to the many agencies that have assisted in the search so far. They have been assisted by Johnson County Sheriff Department, Edinburgh Fire Department, Edinburgh Police Department, Franklin Fire Department, Shelby County Water Rescue Team and Bargersville Fire Department. They also want to thank the citizens of Edinburgh who stopped by to offer words of encouragement and food and water to the search crews.
