Man Arrested After Kidnapping Bloomington Woman at Gunpoint

(BLOOMINGTON) – A Mississippi man was arrested in Bloomington after he kidnapped a woman Saturday afternoon.

Police arrested 36-year-old Travis Moore, of Philadelphia, Mississippi on charges of kidnapping, intimidation, theft of a vehicle, possession a handgun without a permit and driving while his driver’s license was suspended.
The 25-year-old woman was a friend of Moore and had recently picked him up out of state and brought him to Bloomington.
The two were staying in a motel on the city’s east side when the woman decided she didn’t want to be with Moore. She left the motel and returned asking him to leave. She then left a second time and police say Moore followed her.
As the woman went to get in her car where a male friend was waiting for her, Moore pulled a handgun, ordered the male out of the vehicle and ordered the female to get in and drive.
The male ordered the woman to take him to an apartment complex in town.
The woman instead drove to the Bloomington Police Department downtown, put the vehicle in park, jumped from the vehicle and ran into the police station.
Moore jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away with the woman’s vehicle.
Police spotted Moore driving the vehicle on the Ind. 45/46 Bypass. He was stopped and arrested.
He is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $30,500 bond.
