“In tonight’s State of the State address, Gov. Eric Holcomb discussed several key issues that affect all of Indiana, including attacking the opioid epidemic and maintaining a balanced budget.
“Indiana, along with the rest of the country, is working to curb a deadly drug epidemic that is tearing apart families and communities, and I am pleased Gov. Holcomb will continue to prioritize this issue in 2019. To provide additional solutions, I authored Senate Bill 110, which would enhance penalties for drug dealing within 500 feet of a drug abuse counseling, recovery, support group or rehabilitation site, and Senate Bill 111, which would provide funding for faith-based substance abuse recovery programs.
“Additionally, it is important our government make tough choices and spend within our means to maintain a balanced budget. I look forward to working with Gov. Holcomb and my colleagues to pass a balanced state budget that funds priorities and protects reserves.”
