Join IU Health Bloomington Hospital Patient Family Advisory Council

(BLOOMINGTON) – Community input is an important part of improving the patient experience. Join the IU Health Bloomington Hospital Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) and make your voice heard on hospital processes and the environment with fellow community members.

Interested parties should email Robin Mendyka, IU Health Bloomington Hospital Volunteer and Visitor Services Manager, at RMendyka@iuhealth.org and mention that they are interested in becoming a member of the hospital’s PFAC in order to receive an application form. Applications are due Thursday, Jan. 31.
The council is looking for PFAC members who:

  • Represent the diversity of IU Health’s patient community
  • Have recent experience with the IU Health System (within the past two to three years) as a patient or a family member of a patient
  • Are able to share their insights in ways that are constructive
  • Interact well with others and are able to speak candidly in groups

Members weigh in on hospital processes and environment for specific areas during regularly scheduled PFAC meetings, depending on the agenda/topic for the evening.
In the past, PFAC members helped on issues including the Mother/Baby waiting room redesign, acted as secret shoppers in different hospital departments, participated in Rapid Improvement Events and gave feedback on items for the new Regional Academic Health Center.
Meetings are from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month from February – October, and on the third Wednesday of November. Dinner is served.
Email Mendyka at RMendyka@iuhealth.org for an application or for additional information.
