IU Wilkinson Hall Opens Sunday With IU Taking On Maryland

(BLOOMINGTON) – Indiana University’s Wilkinson Hall, the new multi-use Indoor Arena that will be the home for volleyball and wrestling competition will open Sunday with Indiana wrestlers taking on Maryland at 2 p.m.


“The opening of Wilkinson Hall marks a new beginning for the Hoosier Wrestling program, and we are excited to welcome Hoosier wrestling fans to the debut match Jan. 13 against Maryland,” said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass. “This state-of-the-art facility gives our program a dedicated home venue second to none in the Big Ten, and we are thrilled that this day has arrived.”

“We are excited for the opening of Wilkinson Hall January 13th,” IU head coach Angel Escobedo said. “This state-of-the-art facility will provide us an opportunity to compete in one of the best college wrestling venues in the country. I’m really excited about the effort we are putting into the production and entertainment value of our matches and I hope the fans will really enjoy the atmosphere.”
The first 200 fans coming to the match on Jan. 13 will receive an Indiana wrestling hat and commemorative Wilkinson Hall Posters while supplies last.
The Hoosiers are pleased to welcome back IU wrestling alums for an alumni day and there will be an All-American reunion and recognition during intermission. There will also be an opportunity for post-match autographs.
The dedication for Wilkinson Hall will take place on January 16.
