Woman Pleads Guilty In Double Fatal Accident

(PATOKA) – A Patoka woman pleaded guilty on Friday to two felony counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death.

According to court records, 25-year-old Ashley Sanders admitted to driving drunk when she crashed into a vehicle that killed 20-year-old James Gasaway of Haubstadt and 19-year-old Trevor Watt of Princeton.
On September 1, Sanders was traveling north on US 41 north of Princeton when she didn’t see a vehicle slowing down in front of her to turn left. Sanders hit the vehicle at a high rate of speed resulting in the deaths of the two men.
Sanders was also injured.
She will be sentenced on January 30 and could face between 4 to 24 years in prison according to the plea deal.
