Two-Year-Old Dies In Bloomington House Fire

(BLOOMINGTON) – A two-year-old boy died in a house fire in Bloomington on Sunday morning.


Monroe County Coroner Joani Shields confirmed the child’s death. An autopsy is scheduled for today in Terre Haute to determined the cause and manner of death of the boy and to confirm the boy’s identity.
Not many details about the blaze or death were released pending the results of an investigation by the state fire marshal.
The fire was reported at 7:46 a.m. in the 3800 block of South Tyler Lane.
Firefighters from Van Buren Township Fire Department, Perry-Clear Creek Fire, and Monroe Fire Departments battled the blaze which was reported extinguished around 10 a.m.
The fire destroyed the home in which the child lived with his parents, three siblings, a live-in babysitter, and her young daughter. Everyone but the toddler’s father was home when the fire started.
Officials have not released the name of the boy or his family.
