Fern Evelyn Long – Bedford
June 28, 1922 – October 18, 2018
Fern Evelyn Long, 96, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at IU Health Hospice House, Bloomington.
Born June 28, 1922, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Roy Bryan and Evadna Grace (McAfee) Wever.
She married Gordon W. Long on June 8, 1946; he preceded her in death on October 23, 2010.
Fern was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the Class of 1941. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; St. Vincent Bereavement Committee; American Legion Gillen Post #33, Ladies Auxiliary; and a Red Cross Bloodmobile Volunteer.
Surviving are three sons, Mike W. (Deborah Schober) Long, of Orange, CA, James (Glenda) Long, of Bedford, and Dan (Alicia) Long, of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Cami (John) Flynn, of Bedford, Dylan and Keegan Long, of Kansas City, MO, Alex Schober Long, of Orange, CA, Whitney (Dakota) Evans, of Bedford, Haley (Bobby) Hatfield, of Fishers, and Garrett (Jodi) Baker, of Bloomington; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Tom (Beverly) Long, of San Diego, CA; and sister-in-law, Lola (John) Kapaldo , of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Wilma June Jackson and Lee Wever.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hoosier Uplands Home Health Care.
